A PRACTICAL TRIP SHORTLIST

Hot springs near Eugene

Two different directions shape an Eugene hot springs trip: Highway 58 toward McCredie, and the McKenzie River corridor toward Terwilliger, Belknap and Bigelow. Choose a corridor before comparing pool details.

Highway 58: McCredie

McCredie has limited day-use parking and undeveloped pools beside Salt Creek. A picnic stop does not establish an easy or accessible route into the water. Do not cross the creek to reach another pool, and plan overnight accommodation elsewhere.

McKenzie River: three different formats

Terwilliger involves a short trail and timed entry. Belknap has a developed pool with age, clothing and holiday rules. Bigelow is a smaller, river-dependent warm pool that can disappear under higher water. Picking a backup means checking its own admission requirements.

Choose for your group

If you need a confirmed accessible route, contact the operator or land manager rather than inferring access from a short walk. With children, compare age limits before arrival. Carry the source links and check road conditions before losing mobile service.

ODOT TripCheck covers state-highway conditions. Check the relevant forest, refuge or operator for the final access road. No driving times, opening guarantees or live pool temperatures are inferred from map coordinates.
