A PRACTICAL TRIP SHORTLIST

Hot springs near Bend

Start with Paulina Lake for a lakeshore outing or Kah-Nee-Ta for developed pools. Summer Lake belongs in an overnight plan. These options call for different clothing, supplies and booking decisions.

A lake hike is not a resort visit

Paulina’s springs are part of a lakeshore outing inside Newberry National Volcanic Monument. The full Lakeshore Loop is 7.5 miles; that number is not a promise about the shortest route to the springs. Choose a trailhead and check seasonal road access with the Forest Service.

For a developed pool visit

Kah-Nee-Ta lists several pool types, children’s water areas and a sloped-ramp leisure pool. Confirm the date-specific day pass: its website contains conflicting weekday prices and some inconsistent hours. A private tub or cabana can involve a separate charge.

When to make it overnight

Summer Lake explicitly excludes day use. Reserving a campsite, RV space or cabin changes the budget and schedule; cabins have a two-night minimum. Confirm cleaning windows rather than assuming the pools are available every hour of your stay.

ODOT TripCheck covers state-highway conditions. Check the relevant forest, refuge or operator for the final access road. No driving times, opening guarantees or live pool temperatures are inferred from map coordinates.
